Our Philosophy

Our family has owned small and mid-sized commercial and residential property in Manhattan for over 50 years.  As a result, we have employed some of the city's largest and well-known management firms.  As real estate owners, we expected certain basic services - controlled expenses, reasonable profits, maintenance of the property and a genuine concern for the residents. Unfortunately, our experience was that the large “factory type” management firms proved to be little more than overpaid "rent collectors".

After years of frustration, Daniel Dermer formed Dermer Management in 1992 to specialize in the management of buildings.  As a boutique management company, we found two things to be critical to our operation:

  1. 1)    A partner that understands the day-to-day issues unique to each building.
  2. 2)    A systematic approach to revenue, expenses and building environment.

Unlike traditional management firms, Dermer Management only manages that number of buildings that enables us to provide the personalized service that buildings require. Dermer Management does not overload its employees in order to add a few more dollars to the bottom line.  This philosophy enables our partners to be personally involved in the management of your building.

Dermer Management has developed a system that uses a proactive transition approach to address every building issue right from the start and ensures that your property is serviced by the right professionals and contractors at the right price. By the end of our first meeting, you will be confident that we will enhance the positive, and eliminate the negative characteristics of your building.

The proof is in the results:

Dermer Management has only acquired new buildings through referrals by current clients and we have NEVER LOST A SINGLE BUILDING!
